You want a ‘videographer’ for your wedding? Try a cinematographer instead! I am so inspired by wedding cinematography right now, I can’t even stand it. Ever since I saw my all time favorite photographer, Jessica Claire’s, video montage from her 2009 wedding, I now see it necessary to have some type of film to capture the essence of your wedding day. So I am now going to share with you my three favorite videographers that I think best compliment my style of photography and my love for the art of documentary photojournalism/videography…
Recently a friend told me about these guys. They are a vintage style based film and digital cinematographers based out Evanston, IL… and I am in LOVE! I Do Films is now one of the most visited sites on my computer! These people truly make me want to get involved with cinematography… something that I never thought I would ever say. You can choose to have your day photographed in High Definition or on vintage Super 8mm film, and they have a bunch of amazing examples to show of both. I have not worked with them before, but I am dying for the chance! Though you can bet I will be stopping by their booth when I visit The Indie Wed Convention in Chicago this January. (Tickets are now on sale and they are cheap, I expect to see all of you then! There will be a huge variety of incredible vendors worth checking out!)
The next videographer I am in love with is Joel, the owner/videographer of Wedding Films. I got to work with him recently at a wedding I assisted in Wisconsin, and I was amazed by the finished product. Joel was quietly following the bride and groom around all day with the rest of us, but during dinner I noticed he was on his laptop the whole time. To everyone’s surprise he was whipping together this little video, and it was soon played after dessert (I bet you can’t find me) :

Even having just lived all of these moments hours before, I was so amazed by the little details and emotion he captured in such a little time. There was not a dry eye in the house after the video was through! I cannot wait until I get to see the finished product!
The last videographer I recommend is Tom from Blink of an Eye Media. He is based out of Naperville and I’ve worked with him dozens of times. I am always in love with the finished product as well! He also has many examples of his work on his website, but my favorite is when he keeps one of his cameras rolling in the lobby, so guests (sometime inebriated) can come up and leave a funny message for the bride and groom. It’s always good for a laugh, check him out!
